Resume Writing, Interviewing, and Networking Advice

Resume Writing, Interviewing, and Networking Advice Resume Writing, Interviewing, and Networking Advice Resume Writing, Interviewing, and Networking Advice Last Friday afternoon, I felt a fog descending over my brain, and decided it was time to see what kind of information I could immerse myself in using StumbleUpon. It's fun and brainless, but also work-related, so it's an ideal late-Friday afternoon activity. In case you don't know how StumbleUpon works, you check off topics that interest you, and then it randomly finds web sites that fit those topics. One of my topics is blogging, so I soon stumbled a post called 50 Timeless Blogging Tips. As I was skimming them, I spotted three quotations that were perfect for job seekers. 1. Apply this tip to your RESUME WRITING: Put it before them briefly so they will read it, clearly so they will appreciate it, picturesquely so they will remember it and, above all, accurately so they will be guided by its light. Joseph Pulitzer Renowned publisher and founder of the Pulitzer Prize 2. Remember this one as you prepare for JOB INTERVIEWS: You can tell whether a man is clever by his answers. You can tell whether a man is wise by his questions. Naguib Mahfouz Egyptian novelist who won the 1988 Nobel Prize for Literature 3. Think about this one when you're NETWORKING (especially if you're changing careers): Its almost impossible for people to change alone. We need to join with others who will push us in our thinking and challenge us to do things we didnt believe ourselves capable of. Frances Moore Lapp Prolific author and activist dedicated to worldwide hunger and poverty issues
